LEVESTER WILLIAMS, SR.

Levester Williams, Sr. was born the ninth of fourteen children to the late Sylvester and Evelyn Montgomery Williams in Marion, SC.  He was educated in the Dillon County Public Schools.

Bishop Williams was baptized in the name of Jesus on April 6, 1961; and he tarried until he received the Holy Ghost on April 12, 1961. In August of 1965, God called him into the ministry to preach the gospel.  He worshipped at The Highway Church of Christ of Latta, SC until he moved to Jersey City, NJ in 1967.  He attended the Highway Church of Christ in Manhattan, New York under the pastorship of Bishop Liston Page, Sr.  He was very instrumental in building the works there and in Patterson, NJ.  As a result, He was appointed the assistant pastor of The Highway Church of Christ in Manhattan, NY and Patterson, NJ and ordained an Elder under Bishop Page in 1969.  While there, he took a 2-year Theology course to enhance his ministry.

In 1976, Elder Williams was led by God to move back to the South.  He served under Bishop R.F. Davis at  The Greater Highway Church of Christ in Marion, SC  for two years.

In 1978, Elder Williams established a Greater Highway Church of Christ in Mullins, SC with just his wife and three children.  In November 2001, he started his second church in Florence, SC with just his family as well.

Because of his faithfulness, dedication, and hard work, he was ordained bishop by Bishop R.F. Davis at the 1996 General Convention.  He also served 16 years as the Overseer of the state of South Carolina and ten years as a member of the Executive Board of The Greater Highway Churches of Christ, Inc.  In March 2009, having obtained help of God, Bishop Williams established his own organization, True Faith Deliverance Temple, Inc. ,which consists of one church with two locations:   4905 Chevy Road, Mullins, SC 29574 and 950 Becky’s Parkway, Florence, SC  29506.

He is married to Ella Ford Williams.  He has three children: Catherine; Shervone; and Levester, Jr. and four grandchildren: Michael, II; Isaac; Levester, III; and Isis who were a blessing from his union with his deceased wife, Levilea Burch Williams.  He is also a retiree of Sears Roebuck & Company after 26 years of service.

Bishop Williams is an anointed, gifted, prayerful, and powerful man of God who loves and cares for people.  The primary focus of his ministry is to help people get and stay saved.  He is truly a jewel and blessing to the body of Christ.
